HOW TO CHECK IF YOUR BIKE IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE BEST KIT
One of the strengths of the BEST system has always been its adaptability.
Whether you own a city bike, rather than a full equipped mtb, BEST can transform it, without any invasive modification of the frame.
In the description we’re going to explain the fundamental points to be checked in order to purchase the BEST kit correctly, including all the elements necessary to complete the installation without surprises.
Compatibility Guide – BEST kit
In a few lines we will summarize the highlights of the compatibility of the various models of bike with the BEST kit.
• The first essential factor is bottom bracket. BEST is a mid-drive motor and it is right in the bottom bracket of the bike that the motor will be positioned, simply by removing the original pedal block and inserting the BEST that will be blocked then with special rings.
Our motors are produced in two different versions: with Standard bb (bottom bracket) and with Fat bike bb. For the choice of the bottom bracket, you should distinguish the standard bikes from the models with fat wheels, which notoriously have bottom bracket from 100 to 120mm. Only in this last case, order the kit with FatBike bottom bracket will be the correct choice. For all other cases, you should always select the Standard one.
Once you have understood the difference, we move on to understand how to behave when the bottom bracket has measures that are different from the BSA standard (68/73mm).
In this case, it will certainly be appropriate to proceed with the measurement with the calipers of the dimensions (exemplified in the gallery) of the internal diameter and length of the bottom bracket.
Depending on the measurement carried out, the compatibility table (available in the gallery, HERE) it’s very useful to check if you need to purchase also a bb adapter to fit the motor dimensions. If you still have any questions, please always contact our customer service: info@bikeebike.com
• The second essential factor is the positioning of the battery in the frame.
It is always recommended to check in advance that the battery can be installed in the desired configuration to avoid problems during installation.
In order to do this we can help the customers with the measurements of the various batteries reported in the gallery (which are also found in the image gallery of each power version of the kit) or ask for support to customer service in case you need special changes to both the battery and the length of the cables (signal, battery).
• The third factor to consider is the bicycle crankset and its front derailleur.
The BEST engine has two front chainrings (44T + 28T). It does not mean, however, that bikes with triple or single chainring cannot be converted.
Models with triple chainring, will have to sacrifice a chainring by installing BEST, but they will be advantaged by the front derailleur that will be already suitable to support the gap between the 44T and 28T chainring. Models with double chainring will maintain this trim, but may have a derailleur that is not compatible with the trim of 44 + 28 chainrings and consequently should be replaced with a suitable 3-speed derailleur. The front derailleur factor is not to be considered for the single chainring crankset and it will always be possible to ask for the kit with the single chainring, also available in the 36T version (optional available here).
→ For the conversion of tandems, trikes, cargo bikes or other special bicycles it is always recommended to ask for advice to one of our dealers or directly from customer service. Very often, in fact, these types of bikes require special configurations and customizations of the components that Bikee Bike is able to make independently, delivering everything needed for installation.
At this LINK you can also consult our installation manual, which explains in detail, step by step the various procedures to complete the assembly of all components of the kit on the bike.
If you have any further questions or concerns, we recommend you to contact our customer service (info@bikeebike. com), always including photographic material. We will advise you on the best solution for your bike and provide you with a detailed quotation.
